Oldtime Showcase and CD Release this weekend!

Sunday Sept 25th Multigenerational Oldtime Showcase with Professor Banjo!

Three bands with stellar youth musicians, including the Onlies,  join Paul Silveria (Professor Banjo) for a footstomping oldtime showcase to celebrate the release of  a new CD called Professor Banjo PB and Jam!

This show will conclude a three day/three city tour!  It’s going to be great fun for all ages, especially those with young kids!  We hope you can make it!  Sponsored by the Seattle Folklore Society and held in the lovely concert hall at the Phinney Neighborhood Center!  Reservations are recommended!  Details here.

This Oregon Music News article has more information about the project.

Don’t pierce the rutabagas!

Don’t pierce the rutabagas!

It might be the only farmer’s market in the United States conveniently located near several tattoo and piercing parlors. This Sunday, September 18th, come watch the Onlies play the Broadway Farmer’s Market from 11am to 1pm.

Right after playing the market Leo and Riley are going to walk two blocks over to Bobby Morris field and play a soccer game. If music isn’t your thing, maybe the soccer will do. Kick off (is that what they call it?) is at 1pm.

Vacation calls

A little time off…

After some really fun times busking at Seattle’s Pike Place Market, we’re all busy doing vacationy things for a few weeks. Sami’s gonna learn Cape Breton step dancing, and Leo and Riley are off playing and and dreaming baseball. So, gigs will be rare till mid/late August. Then, it’s look out, Redmond!

The Onlies: What does it mean?

The Onlies: What does it mean?

With our name change will come many questions: why, what does it mean and isn’t it a little bit too Indie Rockish. Well, we changed our name because we decided it was time to do this. It had been forever (or so it seems) of having a name that we thought up in a wine bar when we were little. However deep you may think it was, Beach 3 had no meaning. The Onlies is a reference to our only childness (we are all only children)

What does it mean

In the future, we may change it to the the Onlies stringband or something else. If you have any suggestions about how we could make sound more awesome or stingbandish, just leave a comment in the comment box. Leave your name so we can say it on stage and give you the cred that you deserve. We would love to hear from you!

(oh and about the random wolf picture, it’s my favorite so I had to share it with all of you!)

RuthMabel

By the way, we will be playing with an awesome bass player named RuthMabel at the dance in Olympia. Hope to see you there!
